Guide: How to normalize your Ventrilo volume Empty Guide: How to normalize your Ventrilo volume

I didn't know where to put this so I just decided to stuff it in the general tab. I guess the mods can move it if it fits better in a different category. Smile

In every guild there's the quiet people (me) and the people who seem to scream at the top of their lungs. While you can adjust everyones volume individually, it can become a lot of work when there's a lot of people who's volume need adjusting. By changing these settings below everyone's volume should come across exactly the same. No matter if a person is screaming or whispering your volume will remain the same and your ears intact.

* Go to Setup
* Enable Direct Sound
* Select the SFX Button
* Select Compressor and click Add.
* Under Compressor Properties use the following settings:
Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
Attack = 0.01
Release = Around 500
Threshold = Around -30
Ratio = 100
Pre delay = 4.0
* Done!

Just out of curiosity am I going to have to manually change the volume settings for each person I turned up now or will this override that.
I've just set this up and now I'm thinking next time a person speaks that has +500% it might defen me....
If so does anyone know a way to change it with them offline?

I think it should override it. I'm not a hundred percent certain though.
