Poems about Tea and Cake
Because Colt wrote an awesome villanelle, and I didn't want its awesomeness to float away down the blogging stream. So, here, salvaged from RO, is Colt's poem:
Whatever task you may partake
Never let it get you down
Always pause for tea and cake
To invigorate, keep you awake
A mob to gank, a noob to pwn?
Whatever task you may partake
In Wintergrasp or Modan Lake
Dressed in armour or a gown
Always pause for tea and cake
Riding goat or proto-drake
Wear a smile or wear a frown
Whatever task you may partake
Chocolate gateaux, Cherry bake
Assam, Darjeeling or Oolong
Always pause for tea and cake
Whatever paths your journeys take
Even pugging in Icecrown
Whatever task you may partake
Always pause for tea and cake
Please note: poems about tea and cake need not be restricted to villanelles. I believe in equal opportunities for tea and cake and poetry.

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
Teatime is always better with some cake
As long as there is plenty jam and cream
And friends will not your crumby side forsake
For more debauchéd pleasures to partake
While wiser men to this much wiser theme:
Teatime is always better with some cake.
As long as tea and poesy your thirsts can slake
And spirit soothe in coffee’s vap’rous steam
And friends will not your crumby side forsake
Then happiness will e’re be yours to make
And this the most despairing soul redeem:
Teatime is always better with some cake.
Your heart will ne’re know what it is to ache
And all your days will Sunday teatimes seem
And friends will not your crumby side forsake.
Unto a teashop let us now betake
And not with action afternoon blaspheme
Teatime is always better with some cake
And friends will not your crumby side forsake.
As long as there is plenty jam and cream

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
I sent this to my boss at work when he was refusing to get in a round of tea. He caved in after reading it
O! Editorial master
And lord of the news room
With tea we would write faster
And lo, our fingers would zoom
'Cross our aged keyboards
Wearing out the keys
Ever moving onwards -
Much hastened by our teas!
So we do beseech thee
Verily we do!
Wouldst thou maketh us tea
As we didst make it for you?

Poor rhmyes doth slink away,
self-conscious in simply cut cloth.
Robéd prose of masters.

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
mighty and dreadful, for, thou art not so,
We has Rezz!

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
Haiku time!
Oh, Jammy Dodger
How I long for thy sweet taste
Dipped in my hot tea.
Yeah, I never was that good at poetry
(Haikus are 5, 7, 5, right?)
Also, whilst the legendary jammy dodger may not be considered cake-like, I actively promote equal oppurtunities for biscuits.

Well technically Jammie dodgers have a base, a delicious jammy layer and a top layer, so it may be called a biscuit but it has the design of a cake without doubt!! Awwwww now i'm craving a packet with a nice hot cuppa

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
Here's my toe-curlingly awful contribution, a paean to the diuretic qualities of tea:
There once was a gnome called Rhizzo
Who frequently needed a whizzo
The problem you see
Was a surfeit of tea
Which created a whole lot of pizzo!

I don't know what's worse. That you wrote that or that I laughed.

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
There once was a student from Newcastle,
who found his assignment a hassle,
So short was his span of attention,
that it would be pretty foolish to mention,
that this little ditty would never get...
(I will literally do anything to avoid doing this assignment)

There once was a gnome mage called Colt
Who his guild thought a bit of a dolt
His deaths were extreme
For his own self esteem
You'd think common sense would revolt.

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
Something I wrote ages ago, sort of LoLshire related now....
E-mail of the species…..
>F/20/ USA (Thirty five if I’m a day….)
>> M/19/ feeling raunchy (Fat and 40, somewhat paunchy)
>Hot and sexy, legs akimbo (Housewife, bored, stuck in limbo)
>> Tanned and rugged, muscles, hunky (pale, glasses, ‘puter junkie)
>Long blonde hair, slightly curly (mousy, short and no way girly)
>>Hair, long and dark and in a pony (*feels hairline, thinks “if only”*)
>Hope you like a curve or two (Please say yes, I’ve quite a few)
>>I’m not adverse to virtual nookie (You’re my first, I’m just a rookie)
>Here’s my body, take me freely (You wouldn’t want to if you could see me)
>>Logging off – important business (Wife’ll kill me if she sees this)

Re: Poems about Tea and Cake
Deeply warped though I may be,
There are some things we should not see.
There's odd, there's strange, there's just not right,
There's gnomish nipples, what a sight....
But worse than this - it's such a fright -
Is Brussel Sprout Cake Delight...
I kid you not. This is wronger than Colt's dress sense!
http://thecakedcrusader.blogspot.com/search/label/brussel%20sprouts
There's this wonderful tribute to cake and William McGonegall there too. Had to link it, as I have a think about his poetry. We have a book of it in the downstairst toilet....
